About

Welcome to Project Gap Year!

At first glance this might seem like a travel blog, but this is much, much bigger.

This is about taking time to invest in what matters in life.

For us, that’s being together as a family and exploring this big, amazing world!

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day business and loose sight of what matters.  It’s easy to prioritize the schedule and the to-do list and get overwhelmed.

We know, we were there, just like you.  We were busy and over scheduled, but we traded it for a year to travel, slow down and be together.

It’s not always easy to make the decision to change your life and routines, but believe us, it’s worth it.

When you consciously start investing in what matters and making a change in your life, your stress level changes (basically disappears), your relationships grow deeper and you wake up in the morning excited about life again.

Meet the family behind Project Gap Year…

fam

A husband, wife, twin boys and a little girl.

Musicians who love the great outdoors and all sorts of healthy stuff.

We love to laugh, crave simplicity and constantly seek out new experiences.

Cultivating deep relationships matters to us, especially with our kids.

Having a strong marriage matters.

Giving back and making the world a better place matters to us.

We are currently a few months into our Gap Year and loving it!

While most people think of a Gap Year between high school and college, being musicians we have always been a little unconventional so….we figured the best time for a Gap Year was the transition between 5th grade and middle school for our boys and while our daughter is still little and happy to be in a stroller when she gets tired.

People are calling us brave and bold, maybe so, but we simply see it as the right thing to do for our family.  We didn’t want to look back at our lives when we are in our 80’s with regrets and say – we should have been there more for our kids, we should have taken more time to see the world, we should have…(fill in the blank).

Because really, you only have one life. And kids are only young once.

XOXO,

Summer, Jeff and family
